There was an unknown force that was causing it and it is not known how or who is being exactly targeted. The virus seemed to be coming out of nowhere. It has been a year and millions have no magic. In June 2020, there is a group going by Eidolon, who is taking credit. The Ministry doesn’t know who they are or who they target, it seems to be random. You can clearly see that, when you look at Merope, and that’s why she felt the need to make the beautiful Tom Riddle, the father of Tom Marvolo Riddle, drink a love potion. Werewolves

A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope, is a human being who, upon the complete rising of the full moon, becomes an uncontrollable, fearsome and deadly wolf. This condition is caused by infection with lycanthropy, also known as werewolfry. Werewolves appear in the form of a wolf but, there are distinctions between them and regular wolves. A mixture of powdered silver and dittany applied to a fresh bite will seal the wound and allow the victim to live on as a werewolf, although tragic tales are told of knowing victims begging for death rather than becoming werewolves. Veelas

Veela were described as looking like incredibly beautiful women, with moon-bright skin and white-gold hair that fanned out behind them, despite the absence of wind. They had the ability to hypnotise and mesmerise most men with their seductive dance, who would then try to impress them. Veela had their own type of magic which did not require a wand. When Veela became angry, however, they transformed into something more like Harpies — their faces turned into cruel-beaked bird-like heads, while long scaly wings burst from their shoulders, and they could launch balls of fire from their hands.
